French player Alain Roy was the winner of the Main Event of the Partouche Poker Tour, which took place in Cannes, France. The tournament was a complete success, 480 players signed up for it and competed for a 1.000.000 Euro first prize. The Palm Beach Casino hosted the four-day event with a total pool of 3.2 million Euros.
The buy-in of the tournament was 8,500 Euros and on day three of the competition the final table was completed. Gus Hansen, who ended ninth, was close to be part of the table with Alain Roy (with 2,225,000 in chips), Stephane Bazin (with 2,387,000 in chips), Philippe Narboni (with 1,465,000 in chips), Claudio Rinardi, Michel Abecassis, Jean Philippe Rohr, Antonin Teisseire and Brice Cournut.
The eight finalists continued playing until only two of them remained: Roy and Swiss player Claudio Rinaldi. Roy finally defeated Rinaldi and took home the 1,000,000 Euro prize, while Rinaldi got a prize of 511,000 Euros.
Beside Gus Hanse (ninth place) other poker stars took part in the Partouche Poker Tour. Michael Mizrachi ended 14th, his brother Robert ended 15th, Noach Schwartz ended in place 28 and Scotty Nguyen had to settle for place 44.
