Following the recent decision of Florida’s lawmakers to sign into law new regulations that will increase the limits at state casino poker tables, the Isle Casino at Pompano Park opened a new poker room on its second floor with 34 poker tables. The opening of the new room also came a few days after the Hard Rock Casino inaugurated a non-smoking poker room.

“The Isle is now a complete gaming and dining destination,” facilities general manager and corporate vice president of racino operations Doug Shipley said. He was making a reference not only to the new poker room, which will replace the old one in the grandstand, but also to the Casino’s new restaurants and bars.

“Guests can play the slots, dine at one of our four world class restaurants, play poker in the state's finest poker room, or watch and wager on Florida's only live harness racing from a state of the art facility,” Shipley pointed out during the opening ceremony.

Currently, Florida pari-mutuels are only allowed to operate their poker rooms when there is live racing. However, a new bill approved by lawmakers this month would give them permission to keep poker rooms open every day.
