Charity poker at Great Lakes Downs is now a real no-limit Texas Hold’em tournament.
Now that the Michigan Lottery’s Charitable Gaming Division has removed the $500 cap for charitable gaming events, organizers for the Fruitport Township increased the top prize money. As a direct result, even more people registered to the tournaments.
Organizers for Great Lakes Downs Texas Hold’em tournament reported the largest number of registered players for the poker tournament in their history, with 123 players and a top prize that exceeded $1,400.
The cap removal was promoted by several non-profit charity associations alleging that bigger prizes would generate more interest among players, and that more players equals more income for the charity.
