Apparently, the UK government is going to allow playing cards –and playing poker for money- in Britain’s bars.
Gambling laws are going to be modified next year, so every pub will be able to hold poker games on their premises. Currently only pubs with an especial permit –that’s is quite hard to obtain- can hold poker games.
The amounts allowed to bet are going to be very controlled, and patrons will be able to bet only £10 per night. Some critics are accusing the minister of acting irresponsibly, because on their opinion, gambling and alcohol are a dangerous mix.
The move is a result of the rising popularity of poker, and because some studies show that 5.8m people gamble online betting an average £1,000 in online gambling sites.
