The marathon Poker Den III finished for a total of 21 players who sat for 36 non-stop hours of poker. The players of the opening table were Roland de Wolfe, Neil Channing, David Williams, Sammy “Any Two” George, Ilios Kamatakis, Chris Parker, Robert Williamson III and Jennifer Tilly.

Sbrzesny, who took home 22,850 dollars, made a bluff that encouraged other players to give 200 dollars to all the players that won the jackpot with the same hand. Alain Roy wins the Partouche Poker Tour

French player Alain Roy was the winner of the Main Event of the Partouche Poker Tour, which took place in Cannes, France. The tournament was a complete success, 480 players signed up for it and competed for a 1.000.000 Euro first prize.

The buy-in of the tournament was 8,500 Euros and on day three of the competition the final table was completed. Gus Hansen, who ended ninth, was close to be part of the table with Alain Roy (with 2,225,000 in chips), Bazin (with 2,387,000 in chips), Narboni (with 1,465,000 in chips), Claudio Rinardi, Michel Abecassis, Jean Philippe Rohr, Antonin Teisseire and Brice Cournut.

Valdemar Kwaysser wins LAPT San José

The young professional poker player, Valdemar Kwaysser from Budapest, Hungary, has just won the second LAPT event in San José, Costa Rica. Although this is only his second major tournament, he has already come in 3rd place in the PokerStars Sunday Million, taking home $133,000.

In an interview, Kwaysser said that he had had some luck during the whole game in San José and had managed to make a considerable amount of money without any major risks. “I had some very lucky hands today as well but that’s poker.

Shooting of Poker begins 19th May

The movie “Poker” is a Mad Love Film Factory production and is directed by Juan Sebastián Valencia, and produced by Natalia Agudelo. Almost the totality of the filming will take place in Bogota, and will begin on the 12th of May and end on the 18th of June.

The main characters of the movie are Rafael Novoa, Juan Sebastián Aragón, Luis Fernando Hoyos, Cristina Campuzano and Alejandra Borrero. The story is about 5 characters that meet for the first time at a poker table, each of them betting a large amount of money, all of them for different reasons.

Poker movie "Deal" debuts on April 25th

The movie stars Bret Harrison, Burt Reynolds and Shannon Elizabeth, and includes short appearances of poker personalities playing themselves such as Antonio Esfandiari, Joe Hachem, Phil Laak, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer and Vincent Van Patten.

The plot is about ex-gambler Tommy Vinson (Burt Reynolds) who teaches a cocky, hot shot, card playing senior named Alex Stillman (Bret Harrison) at Yale University some tips about playing cards. They gradually become friends, pair up and master every tournament they enter.

Limits reduced on Australian poker machines

In an attempt to moderate problem gambling, the Australian state government of Victoria has established new time and spending limits on poker gaming machines.

John Brumby, Victorian’s prime minister, said that the maximum betting limit on gaming machines will be reduced to its half, leaving it at the sum of A$5 per game, for all new machines starting on the 1st of July and for already existing machines from the 1st of January, 2010.
