Croupier’s Union was approved

The casinos of Atlantic City have decided not to question the vote of the workers to create the union, so they are organized for the first time in 25 years. The deadline for Harrah’s to question the vote was last Monday 17th. The United Auto Workers represents 900 croupiers from Caesars, along with keno employees.

The Union said that the Board of National Working Relations certified last Tuesday the results of the election, which made the negotiation with Caesars easier.

Gambling site celebrates First Poker Classes

The gambling site that sponsors the soccer team Sevilla FC, has joined forces with journalists and personalities related to the sports club, in order to share their love for the game. The site has brought together important sporting journalists in the Sevilla stadium, to teach them how to play poker.

The Club’s commission, as well as some soccer players, have shown their support to the company by participating in the event, that has the intention of making the game of poker a little bit more known.

No video poker for Indian tribe

The Catawba Indian Tribe will not be able to operate video poker on its reservation near Rock Hill, the S.C. Supreme Court ruled Monday. The tribe will appeal the video poker part of the ruling to the federal courts, said Columbia attorney Dwight Drake, attorney for the Catawbas.

Because the state banned the $3 billion industry in 2000, the tribe is not allowed to operate the devices on its reservation, the justices said.

Andreas Hoivold wins EPT title

Norwegian poker player Andreas Hoivold, who made it to the Poker Million final last December, has won a European Poker Tour title. The player, who entertained thousands of fans at the TV poker show, turned professional only seven months ago.

The first EPT played in Germany featured a large field with many renowned poker stars, who generated a huge prize pool. The last twenty players included Ben Grundy, Jonny Lodden, Erik Lindberg and Andreas Hoivold. Luck finally smiled to Hoivold and he took home the EPT Dortmund title.

Three hotels with illegal poker

These hotels were having tournaments with prized of over 30,000 and 50,000 pesos, but they didn’t have the needed permissions to hold these tournaments in their installations.

There were found about 100 card players who were participating on the game, about 50,000 pesos were able to be recovered. Among the players there were famous soccer directors, well-known chess players and businessmen. Non of them were breaking the law by playing.

Poker bill

State Rep. Wallace Scarborough's bill legalizing social games of poker has passed a subcommittee and is projected to go to the full Judiciary Committee this week, he said. The bill would allow "kitchen table" poker -games of cards and chance are illegal- in which the house does not take a cut.

Scarborough, R-James Island, said the bill has moved unexpectedly fast but some lawmakers want to make sure the legislation contains strict wording that wouldn't permit for the return of video poker. "I think the potential (for passage) at this point seem really good."

WSOP Academy

Harrah’s has inaugurated the World Series of Poker Academy where students will be taught how to play this popular card game and will learn all the secrets of the game from professional poker players.

Amongst the poker instructors will be 10 WSOP winners, like Phil Hellmuth Jr., Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, Joe Navarro, Scott Fischman and Mark Seif. The first class will take place at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas between the 3rd and 5th of July. At this inaugural event Hellmuth, Hachem, Raymer, Navarro, Fischman, Seif, Alex Outhreid and other professional poker players will play against each other.

Dawn M. Hamilton was accused on Tuesday of causing a child under 13 to view or listen to a sex act and was charged with felony bail jumping. If declared guilty she faces 22 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.

A 13-year-old girl went to the Police Station and told officers of the Oshkosh Police Department that she was playing strip poker at a residence of West 15th Avenue with Hamilton and a man. She said that they played strip poker for about 45 minutes and at the end, Hamilton was only wearing underwear and a pair of shorts.
